When do you start your winter skin care routine and what is a good skin care routine for winter?

26 Aug

Like most people’s skin my skin gets tighter because of the cold air in winter. I live in the UK, so it rains a lot too. What is a good skin care routine to keep nice skin over winter and when should I start it?

Change your moisturizer to a thick and more hydrating one.

Also, I like to use a moisture mask about 1-3 times per week in the winter.

Treatment is with Metronidazole Topical Gel (80% effective) or Permethrin 5% cream. You may also have to take an antibiotic (doxycycline, tetracycline or erythomycin) for 1 month. You dermatologist will decide on the best medication based on the stage of your rosacea.

Avoid provocative medications such as Benzoyl Peroxide or Topical Corticosteroids

Cure/tips for a red nose?

10 Aug

I’m 17 and i’ve had this problem for around 5 years now. My nose seems to be extremely sensitive. I still suffer from spots and pimples, but my nose is always red. It seems to become even worse in the cold or if i touch it too much. I don’t think it’s Rosacea, but i’m not sure.

It also gets quite oily with blackheads
Anyone have any ideas/tips?

Various causes of nasal redness or internal red nose are as follow:

Runny nose gives the red colour to the nose. Some people do nasal rubbing excessive which may also lead to red colour of the nose. Person suffering from Common cold may also show the red colour appearance of the nose. Red nose is also seen in individuals suffering from upper respiratory infection. :

Persons who are allergic to certain substances may also show red nose. Hay fever is also the common causative agent of nose. If the nose is stuffy, then also colour of the nose may change to red.

The causes of red colour of external nose skin may occur due to following reasons

Especially in case of women, when menopause occurs, then the chances of problem of red nose are too much. Person suffering from hot flashes may also show red nose. Emotional stress may also lead to red nose. When the person is in anger, then his nose goes red. Rosacea sufferers also shows redness in nose. Chronic alcohol drunkers, also shows the colour of their nose red.

During smoking, also nose colour is red. Red nose may also be experienced by patients suffering from thyroid disorders. Even the excessive intake of spicy food or staphylococeal infection may cause reddened nose.

Certain people are very much fond of cosmetics. Hence, they use various facial products on the skin which can lead to reaction: Hence, reaction to the facial products lead to reddening of nose.

Treatment of Red Nose
Generally, the red nose get treated by itself. It does not require any particular treatment. Just the removal of causative agent is necessary. If the red nose occurs due to reaction to facial products then ice cold packs may be applied over the affected area. If it occurs due to emotional stress or anger, then it should be tried to keep the mind cool.

Sunburn should be avoided in order to prevent the red nose. It can be prevented with the proper use of sunscreen lotions or creams. Intake of spicy food should be avoided and moreover proper treatment of staphylococcal infection should be done. Antiallergic medications should be taken to prevent the allergic which generally results in reddening of nose.

here are some face mask recipies to help sooth your skin
Always be careful when using natural skin care products to note all ingredients and avoid any which you are allergic to (nuts, for example, are found in many recipes for facial scrubs). If any persistent stinging or redness occurs, thoroughly cleanse your face and rinse well with cool water.

Sometimes skin sensitivities can develop seemingly out of the blue. If this happens, discontinue use. When working with essential oils, remember how potent they can be. It takes perhaps 10 pounds of lavender to make just one ounce of the essential oil. Also, it is best to consult your doctor before using essential oils if you are pregnant or epileptic.

When choosing rolled oats (the breakfast cereal kind) for the following treatments, make sure to check the ingredients. There are plenty of popular brands available that are nothing but rolled oats, as they should be. Don’t get the quick-cook or flavored versions. When the recipe calls for ground oats, use a clean coffee grinder or blender to grind the flakes to a fine powder. Mixed with cornstarch and/or arrowroot powder, this makes a very mild dusting powder for you or baby.

The following recipes are perishable and should be used right away.

Oat and Brown Sugar Scrub:

2 Tbsp. ground oats
2 tsp. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. aloe vera
1 tsp. lemon juice
Mix all ingredients in a clean bowl until you have a smooth paste. Gently massage onto damp skin, and rinse off with warm water. You can triple the recipe for a fantastic smoothing body treatment.

Banana Bread Masque:

½ really ripe mashed banana – moisturizing
2 Tbsp. ground oats – soothing
milk or cream, add as necessary – softening
pinch nutmeg – antiseptic
2 Tbsp. whole wheat flour – antioxidant

Whip ingredients together, adding cream or oat flour as necessary to get a smooth, paste-like consistency. Spread on clean face and leave for 5-10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and pat dry.

Oat and Honey Milk Bath

½ cup rolled oats
¼ cup powdered milk
2 Tbsp. honey

Place all ingredients in a small, natural fabric bag (muslin and cheesecloth are great choices). Hang the bag under the faucet as you fill the tub, so running water disperses the goodness throughout your bath.

I was recently diagnosed with acne rosacea? What are the treatment options?

10 Aug

My eye doctor actually told me that I have acne rosacea. He is an ophthalmologist, so he has been to medical school. What do dermatologists normally prescribe for it?

Treatment options such as oral antibiotics and topical creams are commonly prescribed to reduce inflammation and redness. Topical cortisone preparations for short-term use may also be prescribed as topical vitamin C therapy and cosmetic surgery.

Often the harsh chemicals and synthetic ingredients that are contained in today’s skincare products do more damage to your skin than you may realize. Herbal & homeopathic remedies, on the other hand have carefully selected natural ingredients to improve the appearance of the skin and prevent future break outs.

Some of such homeopathic ingredients include:

* Carbo vegetabilis (30C) is best for patients who are usually identified by the characteristic engorgement of capillary circulation. Their faces are often purplish.
* Calcium phosphoricum (D6) is a bio-chemic tissue salt which assists the body in creating new cells.
* Kali bromatum (30C) – It is also routinely used to help address skin conditions that cause redness, particularly on the face.
* Violae tricoloris (6C) is a remedy formulated from the Pansy and is used mainly as a remedy for facial skin disruptions and redness to the forehead and scalp

What is the best skin care routine you have tried as a teen?

03 Aug

I am currently using the clinique 3 step and i think it is pretty good but the moisturizer is a bit iffy. so i am looking for another skin care routine to replace what i have now.

i have combination skin, with breakouts on my forehead mostly. the clinique has minimized my breakouts but not eliminated them.

i have tried aveeno products and they don’t work that well.

Also, i am 16 so is it reasonable to be using higher end skin care items?

there was a point where i broakout all over my face and neck. inorder to get rid of it (including blackheads) i used cream with the little scrub balls apply scrub with hot water then after scrub with cold, and during the day i would just wipe my face with clean&clear oil absorbing sheets. those take away all the extra oil on the face.
